Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef or turkey
  • 16 ounces of spaghetti noodles
  • 1 jar 24 ounces of marinara sauce
  • 1 jar 15 ounces of Alfredo sauce
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional for seasoning: garlic powder onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's ready for baking the spaghetti casserole.

Step 2: Cook the Spaghetti

  • Fill a large pot with water, bring it to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and then add the spaghetti noodles. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and set it aside.

Step 3: Brown the Meat

  • While the spaghetti cooks, place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook until the meat is thoroughly browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.

Step 4: Combine with Sauces

  • In the pot used for the spaghetti (now empty), mix the cooked meat, cooked spaghetti, marinara sauce, and half of the Alfredo sauce until everything is evenly coated.

Step 5: Layer the Casserole

  • Spread half of the spaghetti mixture into a large baking dish. Drizzle the remaining Alfredo sauce over this layer, then sprinkle one cup of mozzarella cheese on top. Add the remaining spaghetti mixture, and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Step 6: Bake

  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and slightly golden.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  • Once baked, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. This rest period allows the spaghetti casserole to set, making it easier to serve.

Step 8: Enjoy

  • Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh parsley or basil for a touch of color and flavor.
